Four Traveling Essentials When Bringing Your Baby Along
If you are used to light packing and jet setting, traveling with your little one is a totally new experience. Among the changes you will realize are the following: You will have to pack more thoughtfully. You will have to graduate from booking last-minute walks, train rides and flights. You will have to postpone partying and whole-day shopping to some other convenient date. You will also realize that traveling light becomes a myth. This list gives you a rundown of the essential equipment you will need when traveling with your baby.
• CARRIER. When you want both hands to be free to do your groceries, you will want to use a baby carrier, which also comes in handy when you are traveling by plane. The carrier securely holds your little one as you strap the tiny bundle close to your body. You may position the little one to hug you (facing inwards) or to welcome and observe onlookers (facing outwards).
The carrier is appropriate for short walks and shopping sprees, and not recommended for long hours of walking. Even the sturdiest and most comfortable materials cannot protect your shoulders from growing sore, especially when you have to bear the weight of your little one for a whole day.
• CAR SEAT. Are you in for some long-distance driving? Do not travel without a car seat for your little one. The special seat keeps your angel snug and secure as you keep your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the road. When selecting a car seat, make sure that it is equipped with a detachable head hugger – your baby's first line of protection from bumps – as well as the right dimensions so that the seat can conveniently fit inside your car. The seat is a must-have when your little one has barely reached age one.
• STROLLER. S o, you hate the mandatory lift weighting feature of a baby carrier. You have a lighter option that is convenient to push around when you are taking a stroll in the public park or the sidewalk of your quiet neighborhood for your daily dose of sunshine: the stroller.
In many respects, the stroller is a cozier and mobile version of a baby crib, equipped with rollers for easy maneuvering and a hood for added protection against the weather. This travelling essential is recommended when you have no multi-tasking itinerary in line as the stroller requires that you use at least one of your hands to steer the equipment to the right direction.
• CHANGING BAG. No, this is not the odd man out. Whether you are letting your baby board a carrier, a car seat or a stroller, you just cannot afford to leave behind this all-around necessity. Usually in a sling or backpack cuts, the changing bag is your all-in-one receptacle for the feeding and hygiene necessities of your little one.
The changing bag contains wipes, diapers, a feeding bottle or two, milk formula and some baby clothes. Because the bag will hold a number of things, choose one that is sewn with several convenient compartments and one that is made of durable material.
