Yes it is natural for babies to be curious with his surroundings but due to his lack of discernment you, as parents will have to keep an eye on your baby. Accidents do happen even when a baby is around so to keep unfortunate events at bay here are some tips to make your home baby-proof.

1. Stairs. Babies crawl a lot and they do it very silently. One moment they're in front of you and the next, they are gone. So if you have stairways at home, put gates at the top and the bottom of the stairs. The gates will keep your child from falling down the stairs or from going up on them. Falls are really dangerous since it can cause serious brain injuries.

2. Doors. Lock it. Babies go anywhere with or without you knowing. So if you have doors keep it closed much better lock it. Always be mindful with your doors especially if you live near the street as babies can easily go through it and into a very dangerous hi-way.

3. Table Corners. Pad it. Yes, you will have to put pads around your table corners especially those that are really sharp. Most tables especially coffee tables are of the same height as your baby when he or she crawls; therefore, it increases the chances of your baby bumping his or her head unto any of these very sharp table corners.

4. Water. Don't leave or let your baby play with water. Water can be dangerous because it can result to your child drowning. When you have water placed in buckets do not forget to empty the bucket before you keep it. In the bathroom, keep the tub empty but it would still be a great idea to keep the bathroom door closed. Drowning is one of leading causes of death in children so keep your baby safe; keep water away from his or her reach.

5. Pesticides. If you have pesticides at home or other inedible items, you better keep it locked inside the closet. It is natural for babies to put whatever they pick inside their mouths. These pesticides are dangerous and can even cause death. It is not a good idea to simply put it on top of the kitchen counter or inside the sink cabinet. Place it somewhere beyond your child's reach much better if it is locked.

6. Pillows and blankets. Do not fill your child's crib with pillows and blankets because there is a high risk that these items might end up covering your child's face causing them to suffocate. Keep the pillows and blankets at a minimum. Remember that too much can be dangerous too.
